THE PREGNANT PRINCESS EXPERIENCE
Thanks to Kate and Kim, the traditional babymoon just got better.
WORDS Lou Robson
MOTHERHOOD is one of the most rewarding – and exhausting – experiences life has to offer. Whether you are a soon-to-be first time Mum, or anticipating another bundle of joy, expectant mothers of all walks of life are jumping on the royal bandwagon and enjoying pre-baby getaways fit for a princess.
The princess experience is the latest mini-break craze sweeping the globe, with mothers-to-be copying the Duchess of Cambridge and reality TV royal Kim Kardashian’s luxurious baby preparation plans.
In the weeks leading up to their births, Kate and Kim reportedly enjoyed everything from 24-carat gold facials to $500 pedicures. As the trend spreads, a growing number of Australian day spas and salons are adding five-star pregnancy treatments to their menus. Accommodation providers have followed suit, with many promoting pre-baby holidays fit for royalty.
The Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort and Spa offers the best of both worlds. The five-star eco-resort has a range of suits, villas and penthouses 90 minutes north of Brisbane, overlooking the Noosa National Park and just a stone’s throw from Noosa’s iconic Main Beach.
Set among the rainforest on Noosa Hill, the luxury accommodation boasts everything from private chefs to resort-style childrens’ pool, games room, fine dining and the world class Stephanie’s Ocean Spa. The two-bedroom villa has two bathrooms – providing parents with privacy – a large kitchen, washer, dryer and a large balcony set among the tree tops. The resort in Little Hastings Street is alive with the call of whip birds and other native wildlife yet just a short walk from the main shopping district and scenic bays of Noosa’s National Park.
The Baby Moon Massage Ritual at Stephanie’s is an unforgettable pregnancy experience. Feet and calves are gently exfoliated and washed with rose petals and warm water before a 50-minute massage performed on state-of-the-art pregnancy pillows which allow late term clients to lay face down without discomfort. Aromatherapy oils used during treatments are blended on site as are the teas and speciality sorbets offered in the Tranquillity Lounge post treatment. The Spa also offers mineral floatation colour therapy in their open float tank with views to the national park.
