Happy Birthday to the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’. Disneyland turns 60 this year, so five star families heading to California will find themselves in the middle of some serious celebrations, this is definitely going to be a very special time to visit Disneyland. The sparkling Diamond Celebration begins on 22 May and the excitement continues all year.
Disneyland Resort in California is where the Disney dream was born. This was Walt Disney's original theme park, the place where it all began and generations of children have loved him for him .if you ask most children for their travel wishlist one of the Disney parks, if not all of them, will be right at the top. Those who want to do Disney in style can book a VIP Tour through the services team which can be customized to give you a bespoke experience of Disneyland’s two main theme parks: Disneyland Park (the original ) and Disney California Adventure Park. With over 60 adventures and attractions to choose from a guided tour sounds like a good idea.
A good way to beat the crowds and be close to all the attractions is to stay at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels because on select days registered Disneyland Resort guests benefit from early admission and can access all the attractions an hour before the parks open to the public. The luxury check-in choice is Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa , although families also love the newly renovated Disneyland Hotel.
Smart families might also consider buying a FASTPASS. This holds your place in lineat some of the most popular attractions while you enjoy the rest of the park. Look for the ‘FASTPASS’ sign near the entrance of an attraction, insert the pass, then come back at the appointed hour. Keen kids might want to visit for more than a single day, you’ve travelled all the way to California so why not indulge them and consider multi-day passes.
However you choose to enjoy the park there is plenty of dazzling Disney rides and attractions on offer. Fantasyland, where you’ll find Sleeping Beauty's iconic castle is a must and the small fry will also love Mickey’s ToonTime. Adventureland, Tomorrowland and Frontierland have plenty of rides for older kids to enjoy too. AS to which are the best rides, well that is always a hotly contested issue, depending on your age and thrill-level. Safe to say that there are some legendary rides such as Space Mountain and the Grizzly River Run (in Disneyland Park) and the Twightlight Zone Tower of terror , (Disney California Adventure P ark) , that are not to be missed. The Indiana Jones Adventure and Radiator Springs Racers also get a lot of young votes too.
Disney will be lit up at night during the diamond Celebrations so it will be worth staying late to witness a the special effects and over 1.5 million LED lights which up the resort in a dazzling parade and the Paint the Night show. The famous Mickey Mouse and his pals will also join the fun. A new Disneyland Forever production will also light up the sky with fireworks and visitors will find themselves transported into the worlds of Disney and Pixar as projections transform familiar park icons into scenes from favourite films.
The good news is that the excitement never really ends. The Diamond Celebrations are not just about remembering the past but embracing future fantasy, with the promise of yet more technological advances and imaginative experiences still to come. As Walt Disney once put it, “Disneyland will never be completed … as long as there is imagination left in the world.”
