Wittacork is a modern working dairy farm, which welcomes children and small groups as well as couples. The property sits in 320 acres, which include 100 acres of pristine rainforest, and adjoins Lake Baroon and State Forest. Our self-contained two bedroom cottages and three-bedroom farmhouse are surrounded by rainforest and set on a ridge overlooking Lake Baroon and the Obi Obi Gorge National Park. These have both been furnished with small children in mind.
Wittacork Dairy Farm is registered as a 'Land for Wildlife' property and the rainforest contains a number of rare and endangered plant species. We obtained World Wildlife Fund support through Barung Landcare to fence the rainforest in order to keep out cattle. The cottages and farmhouse are situated inside this fenced area. We also have a marked rainforest walk which is approxiamtely 2km and takes about 80 minutes at an easy pace to take in the sights. Shorter walks of 500m and 1km can also be taken. The track is fairly level with some steeper sections and there are seats at various spots along the way to rest. We currently milk about 100 cows and we also have an additonal 100 dry cows, heifers and calves. The herd is mainly Friesian but we also have a number of Friesian/Jersey cross cows and some Guernsey cows as well. Milking times are 5:30–7am and 4–6pm. Visitors are welcome to come and watch the cows being milked and to help feed calves. They can also feed the Boer goats, Rosie the pig and the chickens and even collect eggs!
