Fiji Holiday SpecialsReader Review of Plantation Island

Here's what our readers have to say about Malolo Island Resort!

The Ramsay family travelled to Fiji in April 2009.

We had considered using the holiday fund on a road trip but we opted for an overseas experience for the family. When researching options for a family holiday all information seemed to direct us to Fiji. The road trip would have to wait!!

We had an unfortunate start with our Flight being delayed by 24hours. Eventually after an unscheduled overnight stay at the Novotel in Sydney, too many Crispy Creme donuts, endless magazine reading, tours of the airport and pages of colouring in we left Australia and headed to Nadi.

Our first night was spend in Nadi before heading out to Malolo on the Catamaran. We felt like the adventure had finally began. At Malolo we were welcomed with singing, coral necklaces and a warmth that put the dramas of the first 24 hours behind us.

The Resort was fantastic. We stayed in bungalows by the beach. The staff were so accommodating, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The children were treated with such kindness.

The girls attended Kids Club a few times. You are provided with a timetable so the kids can choose the activities they want to participate in. The Kids Club operated until 9pm so it gave Martin and I a chance to have a meal childless. Luke felt he was too old for Kids Club but still found plenty to do. Swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, volleyball and much more.

The size of Malolo gave it an intimate feel and we quickly got to know the staff. The staff genuinely enjoyed spending time with the kids and the Activites coordinator created activites to keep everyone happy. Watching the kids (and their Dad) along with others, playing volleyball in the pool while it was pouring with rain was fantastic. The hysterical laughing was a delight.

Other highlights include dinner as a family at the beach bar, cocktails on sunset, walking to Jonas Lookout, 2 hour massage in the rainforest for Mum!!!, the magnificent food and dancing on Saturday night (make sure you stay a Saturday at Malolo), climbing (or trying) coconut trees .....and so much more. Unfortunately we only had a couple of nights at Malolo but are planning our return.

We have fabulous memories of Fiji and are saving to return.
Karen Ramsay
