5 Reasons to visit Whistler in summer

Whistler with Kids

Our newest blogger, Coralie Parsons of Family Travel Blogger, shares her top 5 reasons to visit Whistler in summer.

1. Cycle

Whether you are a thrill-seeker or just seeking a thrill, downhill mountain biking will sure get the adrenaline pumping. Suited to beginners through to advanced bike riders, the Whistler Bike Park is a fantastic family-friendly activity catering for all levels and ages. For something more easy-going, embark on a leisurely bike ride along the Valley Trail and marvel at the spectacular scenery.

2. Picnic

Pack a picnic, and soak up the sun and fresh air enjoying a day exploring Whistlerís lakes and beaches, either by foot or bike, via the Valley Trail. Donít forget to pack your swimmers and towel for a dip that will leave you feel rejuvenated.

3. Family Adventure Zone

Located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain is the Family Adventure Zone. This is where you will find plenty of fun activities for all ages, including Mario & Friends mini-golf, Kiss the Sky bungy trampoline, the Westcoaster Slide (a 315-metre track that winds its way down the mountain), guided scenic rides through the alpine meadows and Hot Wheelz electric go karts.

Peak 2 Peak Gondola

4. Be captivated by British Columbiaís natural beauty while enjoying 360-degree views on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Keep an eye out for wildlife, too; you may just spot an eagle, deer or a bear or two. The gondola holds the Guinness World Record for the highest cable car above ground and longest unsupported span between two cable car towers.

Look out for bears

5. Whistler is bear country so keep an eye out as they are active throughout summer, and you may just be lucky enough to spot one as you ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Or if you are seeking a little more adventure take a sunrise 4WD guided bear tour. This is not only great fun, but so educational as you learn about the bears and this beautiful destination.

Having worked in the travel industry for over 20 years - including 15 years mostly spent at 12,000 metres as an international flight attendant - Coralie's obsession with travel and curiosity about the world continues to thrive as she now embarks on exciting adventures with her family. She enjoys sharing these discoveries on her blog Family Travel Blogger, curating a resource that is insightful, useful and, most of all, inspiring.
