7 reasons to love BIG4 Tweed Billabong

I canít go past a BIG4 Holiday Park; they really are a win-win for bigger families. Kids are entertained from dawn to dusk and we parents can either join in or chill from afar. What makes BIG4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park a winner in my books is its location, theme-park worthy waterpark and top-notch amenities and services. Here are our top seven reasons for families to visit.

1. The water trampoline and billabong

Bring your fishing rod and sense of adventure because the lagoon is packed with fish. If you see fish as friends not food, then bring a kayak or stand up paddle board, but donít worry if you donít have room, you can hire a kayak there. Our kids got a real kick out of using their body boards to swim out to the trampoline and then jumps on it for hours. An added bonus is you can watch them from the balcony of the kitchen and eating area.

2. Ultra-modern cooking amenities

The elegant-looking communal kitchen wouldnít look out of place in a four-stay hotel and has ovens, fridges, microwaves, jugs, power points, plenty of bench space and barbecues. With a high ceiling and wall-to-floor glass youíll be forgiven for thinking youíre in a squish hotel with water views. Thereís also a big area for kids to watch TV if itís raining and lots of seats for campers wanting to get social.

3. Slides galore at the super fun water park

With slides galore and a tipping bucket that soaks to the bone, thereís no doubt this water park is the jewel in the crown of Tweed Billabong Holiday Park. It has four slides, all with different features, including a slower one for little kids. Toddlers have their own area and itís shaded so whatís not to love. Itís cold in winter though because the water isnít heated, but your kids wonít get cold when theyíre having this much fun!

4. A heated pool for those chilly days

If they do get cold, as mine did after a few hours, you can just head over the heated lagoon-style pools near the entrance of the holiday park. It too has a slide and the pools are shallow enough in parts for toddlers to wade. Thereís plenty of seating, not all of it shaded though, so get in early to keep out of the sun.

5. Did somebody say pizza?

Cooking on holiday is a necessary evil, but just down five minutes down or up the road are two supermarkets, shopping centres and various food outlets. We just happened to be staying when a local wood-fired pizza company was onsite offering kid-friendly fare; it was a hit with our kids. Most school holidays youíll find Roam Ďn Pizza near the kitchen and best news is they arenít a cash-only business! Also keep an eye out for the onsite coffee cart, it usually does the rounds on weekends.

6. Location, location location

Just 30 minutes from the heart of the Gold Coast, 10 minutes from Coolangatta Airport and a little over an hour from Brisbane Airport, this BIG4 nails it location wise. The beach is also just 10 minutesí away, incredible bushwalks and waterfalls can be reached within an hour and the iconic Bryon Bay is a leisurely 45-minute drive south. Youíll feel miles away from anything, but the beauty of this holiday park is youíre within a stoneís throw of it all.

7. Cosy cabins for non-campers

We stayed in the Coolabah Cabin and it felt like a plush hotel room with water views! A coffee machine in each cabin, a spa bath to keep everyone happy and soft carpet underfoot; these cabins are the ticket.

The major advantage of staying at BIG4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park is you can get lovely accommodation and a plethora of onsite kid-friendly activities, something youíll struggle to find at most hotels.
