Hotel Review: Crown Metropol

All parents wish they could take their kids on glamorous overseas holidays to create amazing family memories and those who do wish they could take more of them but here’s an idea to enjoy a five-star holiday big on the wow factor and low for bank account seepage – a luxury hotel stay right here in Australia!

I recently shouted my daughter to a live-it-up break at the Crown Metropol Melbourne during the recent school holidays and we were amongst countless families from the Victorian capital and, like us, from interstate, keen to treat their kids to a bit of indulgence for a couple of days to make their school break extra special.

What draws so many families to the kid-friendly, award-wining Crown Metropol Melbourne – the biggest five-star hotel in Australia with 665 rooms – are two things – one of the most spectacular hotel pools in Australia and great family packages that put a five-star break within reach of more families.

Crown Metropol Melbourne

First the sky-high pool. You may have seen images of Crown Metropol’s amazing, indoor infinity pool on level 27 nestled in an airy amphitheater high above the Melbourne skyline.

Any parent will tell you a property’s swimming pool is vital to a successful family holiday and Crown Metropol’s heated, all-weather pool offering delivers big time on the wow factor. Kids and parents love it, splashing amongst the clouds, with deckchairs provided for mums and dads tiring before their offspring do. Speaking of which – maybe you will recognise the pool from episodes of TV drama Offspring, starring Asher Keddie.

And onto the packages. Until September 29, 2016, Crown Metropol has a family deal from $579 covering two nights’ accommodation for two adults and two children, family Village Cinemas pass, valet parking and kids’ meals at popular, Texas smokehouse restaurant, San Antone, in the Crown entertainment complex.

So for not much, families can enjoy a lavish break, enjoying all the excitement that a stay in a five-star property can generate. After all, everyone feels a little more special when they’re cocooned in a luxury hotel. And because kids want to spend so much time in that pool with its nearby jacuzzis and with so many restaurants, cafes and cinemas located within the Crown complex, there’s often no reason for families to venture away from their luxury escape pad. But for those who do, Melbourne’s magnetic mix of shopping, arcades, trams, galleries and family attractions like Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium is a short walk away.

A fun, few days together in a really nice hotel can revitalise a family for a fraction of the cost of a longer, more involved holiday. But exposing the kids to five-star luxury does come with one major problem – kids will expect nothing less than five stars next time!
