6 Reasons Why The East Hotel in Canberra is A Fab Place For Families

Canberra is one of our top spots for families to visit. There’s so much to do, with many attractions a short distance from each other, and the city is very easy to get around with wide, flat roads and minimal traffic.

When it comes to hotels, there are plenty of options for accommodation in Canberra, but the East Hotel has long been our fave place to stay because it’s incredible chic, as well as being so very, very family-friendly.

1. Location

Honestly you can’t beat the location if you’re in Canberra to see Questacon, the galleries or Parliament House. The East Hotel is a 38 minute walk or 5 minute drive to all of the top tourist sites in Canberra, and is located in a quiet little street opposite a stunning park with gorgeous trees. There are two shopping villages less than 10 minutes walk away with places to get groceries, cafes and all the other amenities you might require.

2. Family Suites

The East Hotel has one and two bedroom apartments that are perfect for families with full kitchens, as well as the popular Kids Studios. These rooms interconnect with the apartments, and are fitted out with a set of bunk beds, a kids' play table, dining table, play rug and bean bags with the ultimate Xbox 360 for loads of fun and games.

3. Amenities for kids

The Kids Studios were booked out when we stayed, but our room still came equipped with toys, games and books. The lobby has noughts and crosses games plus the popular lolly jars that are replenished daily for guests to help themselves to.

4. Free bike loan

Hire a bike and see the town using pedal power! The East Hotel has kids bikes for loan as well as adult ones.

5. Seasonal activities

We stayed over Easter and the hotel put on a free Easter Egg hunt for its guests. It was a really sweet (get it?) gesture to help guests celebrate the special weekend.

6. Agnostinis Restaurant on site

This new Italian restaurant onsite is a delicious reason to stay at the East Hotel. Dine in for a family-friendly meal with delicious kids pizza and pasta options for $15 each (including a drink and gelato for dessert), or order it room service for what will literally be the best room service meal you will ever eat.

We received a media rate when staying at the East Hotel. We have previously stayed paying the full rate. All opinions are my own.
