To celebrate Disney's Frozen icing-up screens from November 27, Booking.com has compiled some of its chilliest hotel escapes to help set the frosty scene. These three accommodation options are some of the hottest places to get a cool night's sleep - and unsurprisingly they are all found in the northern realm of Scandinvia.
Alta, Finnmark, Norway
Located 20 kilometres from the center of Alta in Norway, along the Alta River, this hotel is made entirely from snow and ice to offer guests a completely unique experience. It's almost as if the Snow Queen Elsa, has worked her magic on this frosty stay!
The accommodation provides a fantastic location for icy sleeps, a drink in the icebar, a snowmobile safari, dog sledding and all sorts of snowy adventure. The Igloo Hotel is surely one of a kind, and 2014 will be the 15th time it has been built.
Anna, Kristoff and Olaf the Snowman’s epic journey to defeat the icy powers of Elsa took place amid an eternal winter. This property is made completely of snow and ice and offers igloo accommodation in the middle of Åre Ski Centre with scenic views of Åredalen Valley.
Snow art adorns the walls, warm rugs, furs, throws and sleeping bags will ensure bodies are kept toasty, and you'll certainly enjoy the communal outdoor hot tub. Skiing couldn't be made more convenient, with lift passes, equipment hire and ski schools either on site, or very close by.
IGLOO VILLAGE KAKSLAUTTANEN
While the kingdom of Arendelle is covered in perpetual snow, this hotel provides a unique experience in the Saariselkä Fell area of Finnish Lapland. Warmer than the Frozen tale, it offers accommodation in glass igloos and has the world’s largest smoke sauna. The igloos are made from thermal glass, keeping guests warm in Arctic conditions. The most remarkable feature of all is that, from the warmth of your igloo, you can lie in bed and look up through the glass ceiling and see the beauty of the Northern Lights!
