Hot tips for visiting Hong Kong Disneyland

Here we share our top tips for getting the best out of a visit to Hong Kong Disneyland with kids.

Hong Kong Disneyland is a magical place for both kids and adults. With these hot tips, you can make your experience even more magical than it would be already.

1. Where to stay

Hong Kong Disneyland is located on Lantau Island in Penny’s Bay. The location is only 10 minutes from the International Airport and less than 30 minutes by train, ferry or car from downtown Hong Kong. If you would like to stay even closer to the action, there are a few Disney hotels onsite to choose from. If the kids would like to experience a stay fit for a prince or princess then the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel would be your best choice.

2. Tickets and when to visit

Hong Kong Disneyland is the smallest Disneyland park in the world therefore it is possible to visit the park in one day. However, the park still offers seven themed lands plus many shows and parades so we chose a two-day park ticket so we didn’t have to rush through the park, giving us time to see everything while also enjoying a proper sit down meal for lunch. Try to visit the park on a weekday as ticket prices are lower and the wait time for admission and rides is shorter and always try to use the FASTPASS option for rides whenever you can so you can skip any long lines.

3. Food you must try

The Crystal Lotus restaurant at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is one of our favourite Disney dining experiences ever. Book ahead and order in advance the cutest meal you’ll ever eat, the Disney Dim Sum. The service here is impeccable and the food was not only delicious but so much fun for the kids.

Inside the park, Kids will love the Mickey shaped waffles with maple syrup and the sweet frozen lollipops from the Main Street Market. High Tea from the Main Street Corner Café is a special experience the whole family can enjoy together.

4. Attractions

The rides at Hong Kong Disneyland are quite tame compared to the other Disneyland parks around the world. This is perfect for those who have young kids or kids that scare easily. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh would be the most popular tame ride at Hong Kong Disneyland. Little kids will love immersing themselves in this storybook that has come to life.

Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars is the wildest ride in the park and was our favourite. After boarding the mine car be prepared to be hurled forwards and then backwards through the mountain. Kids will also love Toy Story Land where their favourite movie characters come to life and they can ride the RC Racer or the Slinky Dog spin. Keep your eyes on the lookout for the green toy soldiers who love to pose for pictures, dance and play games with the kids who pass by.

Make sure to check the daily park guide for locations throughout the park where you can meet some of your favourite Disney characters. Kids will love meeting characters such as Cinderella, Snow White, Chewbacca, Woody and of course Mickey and Minnie Mouse and many more.
