Tips for a perfect beach day
Ice-cream dripping down arms, the
splash of salty waves and wiggling
sandy toes; Holidays with Kids is
dreaming of a never-ending summer.
However, being sun smart means a
lot more than just slip, slop, slapping.
Here are our tips for beach perfection.
1The Australian sun is a
harsh one, and our little
tots’ skin is far too sensitive
for it. Invest in a
or beach tent.
Chances are your kids will want to
explore the sand and waves so
when they call, throw on a rashie
for extra protection, and
make sure any exposed skin
is lathered in SPF 50+.
Make sure you've got plenty of water to keep the whole family
hydrated for the whole day and save the kiosk for Golden Gaytimes.
Don't forget the
buckets, spades, beach
balls and inflatable toys – all
guaranteed fun for hours.
Have a plan for the day, but be prepared to
go with the flow. Sometimes you may need
to leave earlier than thought, other times you
just won’t be able to drag your kids away.
Embrace the sun, the sand and the moment!
There’s nothing worse than scoring the perfect
spot on the beach, then realising you’ve
forgotten the most important
thing: snacks. Avoid the
annoyance of scouting for an
overpriced kiosk and come
prepared with enough snacks to
last the entire day. A cooler bag
will also keep munchies fresh.
Towels, hats, bags,
oh my! Make sure
you’re prepared and bring
the accessories you really
need for a happier day. And,
of course, you'll need a bag
big enough to fit it all in.
Take advantage of your little
one’s schedule and get to the
beach early. Not only will you miss the
crazy rush to find the perfect spot, the
sun isn’t as harsh earlier in the day.
