Escape Hunt

Looking for something a little different to do in Sydney, maybe a unique birthday idea or team building activity? Go to Escape Hunt in George St Sydney!

I visited Escape Hunt along with my two children, aged eight and 10, on a Friday afternoon, where we pretended to be detectives solving a mystery in a cottage room. We had an hour on the clock to find the clues, solve the puzzles that unlocked the room, escape and solve the crime.

It was a fun and interactive experience, with puzzles to solve, codes to crack and things to find. In my opinion, Escape Fun is best suited to children eight and up.

The staff are welcoming and set the scene for which ever room you are going into. You are given a Walkie Talkie to get some (much needed) guidance or clues from your ‘forensic assistants’ once you are inside your room. Never fear, there are lights in every room and your belongings are locked away in a crate before you enter as no phones or cameras are allowed inside. As the staff say ‘all problems in the room can be solved without google’.

Armed with just a Walkie Talkie, a white board marker and a piece of chalk, the clock timer is set. As we worked together to find the clues and solve the problems, we were kept on our toes with fake clues as time ran out. We worked our way through to the next room with a little help from our forensic assistants and finally into the last and trickiest room. With a little more help we made it out and solved the crime going over the hour by 1 minute!

After the exciting escape, we returned to the lovely lounge area to enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and cookies.
My eight year old son, Jayden, loves puzzles and has asked to go again to a different room for his 9th birthday! With a booking of four or more people the birthday person goes free. Jayden asked for all the birthday info in preparation for October when he turns 9.

My 10 year old daughter rated it 8.5-9 out of 10, and would happily go again. The variety of puzzles and challenges available really get your brain working and the sense of accomplishment when you escape is moreish. I can’t wait to go back and try another room! It was an unusual experience but a fun one! Bookings are essential! The session time per room is around an hour and a half including introduction and photo at the end.
