pooch road trip
Sydney to Noosa
Tracey Leitch shares some of her favourite pet-friendly
accommodation on the road from Sydney to Noosa.
Our holiday plans, like those of more and more pet-lovers,
are often decided around where we can take our much-adored
mini poodle Jett. A road trip from Sydney to Noosa
won the vote this year and having Jett share our
adventures was definitely a highlight of our holiday.
Here, we share some of the best accommodation
we found for pets along the way.
Safety Beach Bungalows, Coffs Harbour
These fully self-contained bungalows just outside Coffs
Harbour are set up well for pooch stays. They all have a
fenced and covered deck area off the living room which is
a great, secure space for the furry guests to relax. The
surrounding tropical garden is bursting with pretty blooms
and interesting scents. A real highlight after the long drive
was the stunning dog-friendly beach at the end of the
street, a five-minute walk away. We were as happy here as
the other dog family holidaymakers. There is a choice
of five bungalows with one- or two-bedroom options and
KoKo’s Beach House No 4, Byron Bay
What a welcome this stunning, contemporary beach
house was after some solid hours of driving. A revival
splash in the pool followed by a long walk along the
dog-friendly beach just five minutes away had everyone
in the happy holiday zone. Once in residence in this
beautifully appointed accommodation, it was incredibly
tough to leave the sofa, but the beauty of Byron called!
I'd say this superbly presented space is better suited to
small-to-medium non-shedding dogs, unless larger dogs are okay to hang outside. There is rear lane access plus
a large garage that also may be a good sleeping spot for
Fido. Beach Houses of Byron has a number of other
dog-friendly stays at various price points on its books for
you to check out too.
Aruba Noosa on Barbados, Noosa
There was great excitement on check-in as there was
a wonderful welcome note for Jett and some doggie
biscuits in a smart bowl set to instantly win her over. Then
when we opened the fridge, we were delighted to find a
local produce hamper to enjoy once we settled in. This
newly refurbished and comfortable two-bedroom
townhouse, located in a quiet Noosaville cul-de-sac, was a
great find. The interior was clean and fresh with bedrooms
and bathroom upstairs and the main living space on
ground level. The fenced garden area was a great puppy
and people hang-out.
