As the school gates reopen for 2014, some Aussie parents are feeling the strain as they gear up to help their children prepare for this year's education milestones such as NAPLAN. According to research commissioned by Samsung Electronics Australia, one in five parents feel stressed about their child's preparation for NAPlAN testing and a quarter do not feel confident that they know how to help their child study.
Parents are looking to technology to assist with the process, as nearly half of those surveyed believe it plays an important role in preparing for NAPLAN. However, a vast majority do not know which applications and online resources are available to them.
Preparing for NAPLAN with SkillsBuilder
Samsung’s survey revealed that 44 per cent of Australian parents that were surveyed are unaware of apps available for smartphones and tablets that can help prepare children for NAPLAN. However, as parents have identified tablets as a very useful study tool for NAPLAN preparation, it is important for them to be aware of the appropriate relevant educational content available to them to help ensure their tablet is assisting their preparation properly. To help support Australian students completing NAPLAN in 2014, Samsung’s exclusive SkillsBuilder application allows students to familarise themselves with what to expect in the exams.
Offered exclusively through the Samsung Apps Store, this free resource helps students in grades 3 – 9 build on the essential reading, writing, language and numeracy skills they’re learning in school. It also helps them prepare for the NAPLAN exam, accustoming them with the style of questions that may be asked to help reduce the risk of the test intimidating participants. SkillsBuilder offers students questions and quizzes that have been written by experienced Australian teachers and curriculum experts.
The application also offers quick feedback on questions and personalised quiz results. Students with the GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) tablet can also use Samsung’s intuitive S-Pen to write answers. These features help students maintain key cognitive skills important for educational growth and development.
Available through the Samsung Apps Store on compatible GALAXY Tab and Note tablet devices,
Mathletics Student is a fun and interactive mathematic based application, covering topics from the K-12 Australian curriculum. An ongoing subscription will allow students to work on the website while syncing all their results to a desktop version which parents and teachers can monitor and track.
