Field of Light

at Uluru

The spiritual centre of Australia is set to become somehow more enchanting when an art installation of unprecedented proportion makes its home at Ayres Rock Resort. Bruce Munro's 'Field of Light' will see 50,000 solar-powered stems of light crowned with coloured, frosted-glass spheres blanket the red sand, drawing viewers in to experience the display at close quarters via pathways. There has never been a better time to introduce children to the environmental and cultural significance of Uluru and the Red Centre, with $35 entry-level Field of Light Pass including return bus transfers from the resort to the remote site and time to view and experience the artwork that has been a lifetime project for Bruce Munro, "I saw in my mind a landscape of illuminated stems that, like the dormant seed in a dry desert, quietly waits until darkness falls, under a blazing blanket of southern stars, to bloom with gentle rhythms of light."
