5 ways to include your kids this Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day rolling around once again, everyone starts to make special plans for their significant other. But what if you have kids? Dinner and a movie suddenly seems far more daunting with the little ones in tow. But never fear, we’ve come up with 5 ways to have a wonderful Valentine’s Day, and with the kids too!

1. Breakfast in bed

Kids love to help out in the kitchen, and to little ones, carrying that tray full of yummy breakfast delights is one of life’s greatest honours. So why not cook up a storm, whether it be bacon and eggs, your special Sunday pancakes or even some warm buttery toast and a coffee. The kids will have a ball getting their chef on, and your significant other is sure to appreciate all the effort!

2. Get crafty

We all know kids love arts and crafts, and what better way to spend some quality family time on a Sunday morning! Buy some red and pink cardboard ahead of time, pair it with some glue, stickers and plenty of glitter and you’ve got all the ingredients for some beautiful art. You could even create handmade Valentine’s Day cards to give out to family and friends!

3. Picnic

Pack a picnic and head down to your local beach or park. While the kids run around playing soccer or hide and seek, you can stretch out on the picnic blanket and relax in the shade. If it’s an evening picnic you’re after, pack some candles, plastic wine glasses and some tasty treats whether it be an antipasto platter or delectable desserts and you’re set for a lovely night!

4. Baking

Go crazy with your little ones in the kitchen and whip up some sugary sweets. Get heart shaped moulds from your local supermarket and get creative with chocolates, cookies and cakes. Don’t forget the decorations - that’s the most exciting part! Your kids will love cooking alongside you and showing off their creative side…and getting to eat it afterwards is just the icing on the cake (pun intended!).

5. Outdoor cinema

Being summer, there are outdoor cinemas popping up all over the country! And most will have a Valentine’s Day special showing complete with packages including VIP seating, complimentary drinks, popcorn and even ice-cream for dessert…a perfect end to a perfect Valentine’s Day.
