 Just over an hour’s drive north of Sydney and set in the ritzy holiday village of Terrigal, this landmark beachfront hotel is perfect for a family break.
When we arrived, we were greeted as we pulled into the semi-circular driveway. Valet parking whisked the car away after porters took out our luggage.
We stayed in adjoining room which the kids loved. The accommodation was spacious with large balconies to soak up the sunshine, take in the breathtaking beach and ocean views, and enjoy the bottle of chilled champagne that was there to greet us.
The kids went exploring and then came back to take us on a tour to see the hotel's great facilities which included a heated swimming pool, whirlpool spa, sauna, steam room and state-of-the-art gymnasium, all beautifully presented. We also discovered there is a babysitting service for children under 4, and a fully supervised kids’ club that operates in school holidays for children aged 4 to 12 years.
Cinemas, ice-skating, shopping, golf, sailing, deep-sea fishing, surfing, scuba diving, horse riding and bushwalking are all nearby.
There were ample dining choices both in the hotel and close by. As we had heard of the famous seafood platter in the hotel’s well known Seasalt restaurant, we chose to indulge in that. It certainly lived up to its reputation.
Next morning, I treated myself to a massage at the world-class Bodhi Spa and came out feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. There are over 60 different beauty treatments available here.
We all returned to Sydney feeling as though we had been away for an extended holiday, not just a weekend.
