Kids' city guide
From city beaches to superheroes, there’s no shortage of family fun in in beautiful Brisbane.
1. Ride the wheel
Soar almost 60 metres above the ground in the safety and comfort of an air-conditioned gondola on The Wheel of Brisbane – a giant observation wheel that offers 360-degree panoramic views of Brisbane City.
2. Spend a day at the beach
Make a splash in the middle of the city at Streets Beach and Aquativity. With its pristine powder-white sand, lifeguards and accessible location in the South Bank Parklands, the man-made lagoon meanders under bridges and past islets of trees and pretty pavilions, and is one of the city’s favourite destinations.
3. Scale new heights
Kids 10 and over can climb the Story Bridge for the most magical views of Brisbane then step off the edge to abseil down the bridge pylon facing onto the glittering river and cityscape, Spiderman style.
4. Living history
The Museum of Brisbane explores the lives and history of the city’s people through fascinating exhibits and hands-on school holiday workshops for kids aged 5-11 years.

5. Art and about
The Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art is home to interactive installations, artist projects and activities especially for kids and families. Its latest exhibition, ‘Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe’, will see Thor, Iron Man and Hulk join the collection of 17,000 works.
7. Reach for the stars
Located within Brisbane’s Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, kids can see the universe come to life at the Cosmic Skydome at the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium.
8. Cuddle a koala
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the world’s first and largest koala sanctuary where the kids can cuddle a koala, hand feed kangaroos and meet a variety of Australian wildlife in a natural setting.
9. Take the Airtrain
Climb aboard the Airtrain right oustide the airport and you’ll be in the city just 20 minutes later. And best of all, kids aged 14 and under travel free.
10. Cruise the river
Enjoy a a paddlewheel ride up and down the Brisbane River with Kookaburra Showboat Cruises and accordion-playing Captain Col.
