Why families will love Walt Disney World Resort more than ever in 2019
The world of Disney is more wonderful than ever before with so many exciting new things to see, do, taste and experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, reports Aleney de Winter.
Walt Disney had some grand plans for his theme park namesake, but even his epic imagination couldn’t have foreseen it evolving into a Disney universe that’s as big as the city of San Francisco. Yes, it’s that big. And it’s getting bigger. So, I’d suggest you plan to stay a while.
An incomparable world of wonder
Home to four enchanted theme parks, two splash-tastic water parks and more than 25 immersive and imaginative Disney Resort Hotels, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, is a place where fairies and flying elephants are real, and princesses parade around with patrons; a place where big kids can get their thrills on some of the world’s most heart-thumping rides, and little ones’ hearts will race as they meet their Disney heroes.
There’s non-stop action from morning till night with shows, parades and classic Disney attractions and rides, plus the animated world of Pixar brought to life. Sci-fi fans can already enjoy Star Wars adventures, but if junior Jedis can’t wait for late 2019 opening of the much-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge you can push them around the park in a spaceship-themed buggy from Fantasy Strollers from March onwards.
A variety of accommodation means guests can even sleep within the Disney bubble. Staying on site also adds the priceless benefit of extended theme-park fun with Extra Magic Hours offered to guests each day of their stay.
With so much to see and do, you’ll need a Disney FastPass+. This magical invention allows guests to pre-book in-demand rides and entertainment, so easily fatigued little folk and frazzled parents can skip the lines.

More now than ever
In 2019, visitors will find a big dose of pixie dust being sprinkled across all the Walt Disney World Resort Parks.
Epcot will be full of colour and flavour, with festivals offering the best in food, art, music and more, but the second half of 2019 will see the extraordinary IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth taking its final bow. The good news? There’s an all-new night-time fireworks extravaganza coming to light up the night in its place.
Wild at heart? Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park is generating more goosebumps as banshees soar through the bioluminescent land of Pandora – The World of Avatar. And the park will be donning its party gear as The Lion King roars its way back onto screens and into our hearts on its 25th anniversary. The park will be radiating a little more of that ‘Hakuna Matata’ vibe than ever during the celebrations, amping up the legendary lion’s tale.

The Happily Ever After fireworks will continue to light up the sky, but Magic Kingdom Park will also enjoy an extra boost of enchantment with a new Mickey and Minnie Surprise Celebration and a whimsical procession down Main Street, USA. These one-of-a-kind musical moments and a bevy of beloved Disney characters are waiting around every corner to greet the kids.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been digging into its toy box of talent to add whimsical new ways to party with everyone’s favourite Pixar pals in the all-new Toy Story Land. And in May, a brand-new cinematic night-time experience, Wonderful World of Animation, will debut; the state-of-the-art show will take families on a journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation. And there’s a fun new ride set to launch with Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway transforming the two-dimensional cartoon into a zippy, zany, real-world experience that is the first-ever ride-through attraction themed to the mouse that made it all happen, Mickey.
