Welcome to our first trade newsletter of 2009 designed to update you on what’s new and exciting at HWK both within the magazine and online. Read on to find out how we can help you promote your accommodation, service or product to families across Australia in officially the biggest circulating travel magazine in Australia that goes to consumers and travel agents.
Holidays with Kids remains the leading family travel title both in reputation and readership. And we have the numbers to prove it (see statistics below when compared to our nearest competitor). When spending your advertising dollar you need to be sure you are spending it wisely and reaching the most people possible.
In 2009 we will continue to publish quarterly editions packed full of both domestic and international travel coverage ensuring that our 600,000+ readers are inspired and informed on all aspects of travel.
No newsletter would be complete without some speculation on the current economic state. We undertook a readership survey to evaluate how our readers (your customers) were being affected by the economic downturn and how this may impact their travel plans this year. The results came back considerably more positive than we might have expected and highlighted that many Australian families are actually better off as a result of their mortgage rates being reduced and the cost of petrol significantly going down, giving families more money in their pocket. Our survey also revealed, more importantly, that they would rather forgo a new car or home renovation than their family holiday. Holidays with Kids is able to deliver this audience to you with each issue that is published.

“FLIP’ING SUCCESSFUL
& OUR NEW EDITORIAL SECTIONS
Having a constant dialogue with our readers ensures that we not only stay ahead of our competitors but also that we offer families across Australia and New Zealand the information they need and want when planning their travels.
The response from readers on our two flip issues of last year – “Ski and Snowboard” and “Caravan and Camping” was a resounding thumbs up so you will be pleased to know that we will be building on their success and including them again in 2009.
Issue 20 will be a 100-page 'flip' publication, attached to our normal autumn issue bringing our readers the latest ski and snowboard news, destinations, accommodation, products etc...AND issue 22 will be a 100 page “flip” edition out in time for the summer holidays focusing on everything families could possibly need to know about camping and caravanning and 4WDing.
We are always fine tuning the editorial within the publication and have introduced some fabulous new sections which you will see within the pages of issue 19. These include a regular feature on “camping and caravanning”, over 10 pages of “family fun” including puzzles and games for all the family, DVD and movie releases and much, much more.
