Holiday parks have always been a great Aussie holiday option and, if you want to know why they’re so popular, you need only head to One Mile Beach Holiday Park in Port Stephens. One Mile Beach has recently added five-star villas, which means your choice now ranges from sleeping in a tent to sleeping in luxury.
The villas offer quality inclusions such as a designer kitchen with Russell Hobbs appliances, two bathrooms, washer/dryer and DVD/CD player. There are either two or three bedrooms, and each has its own television to prevent squabbles over what to watch! The villas’ decks look out onto the area’s famous sand dunes.
One of the great pluses of One Mile Beach is that the property provides wireless Internet access, meaning you can keep up with work even while you’re sitting by the pool or on the deck of your villa, and yet still not miss out on all the family fun.
And there’s certainly plenty of that! The park boasts a resort-style pool with waterfall and waterslide, a floodlit tennis court, 9-hole putt putt, a basketball/netball court and a games room. There is also an entertainment centre where you can watch the latest movie releases. During school holidays a kids’ club operates, and there are trivia nights, adventure activities, and arts and crafts.
The holiday park is right on Anna Beach, probably the best surf beach in the area, which is another big plus about staying here. The Anna Bay Surf School, which is located at the holiday park kiosk, organises really fun surf lessons for kids of every age. In fact, our friends staying in nearby Nelson Bay came over every day to join in, and the kids had heaps of fun together. It really gave them a new interest and they returned home wanting surfboards for Christmas.
