Join in the fun these school holidays as Healesville Sanctuary celebrates “family”.
Following the devastating Victorian bushfires, injured Australian native wildlife were admitted to the Sanctuary for critical care. Visitors to the Sanctuary these school holidays will be able to learn more about the impact of the bushfires on native animal “families” and what staff are doing to nurse them back to health.
Healesville Sanctuary is a perfect day out for all the little Devils in your family to come and meet ours with face painting, activities and keeper talks. The focus will also be on our one year old cheeky Tasmanian Devils on display in the Devils’ Playground. Bring your devils to meet ours!
All day activities will guarantee a great day out for the whole family.
What’s On Catch a Devil Talk at 1pm and 3.15pm: Learn about our little Devil family. Find out who’s the boss brother and why our little girl Yulgilbar is so special! Collective Quiz: A family is a collective – be it people, animals or plants. Collective names can be fun, like a shiver of sharks or a murder of crows. Some of our Australian animals have collective names – follow the trail on the back and find collective name clues. The first correct entry will win a Tasmanian Devil prize pack from the Sanctuary retail shop valued at $150.
Face Painting Little Devils Face Painting every day of the school holidays between 11.30am and 2.30pm in the Heritage Shelter. Transform your little devil into a Tassie Devil! Raaa Raaa! Keeping it in the Family From Birds of Prey to Platypus, all of our Keeper Talks will tell family tales. Get the inside stories on our animal families. The Wildlife Hospital will talk about the impact of the bushfires on animal families and what we are doing to help. Murrundindi’s Family Story Murrundindi follows the Birds of Prey Presentations every day. Listen to his fascinating family story and his connection to this land. Easter Sunday Bilby Hunt supported by Cadbury 11.15am at the Koala picnic lawns on Easter Sunday. Prizes include giant Cadbury Bilbies and heaps of chocky eggs. Kids only. Take a family photo with the giant Platypus.
We are Family Photo Competition Capture your family memories and email your best family photo taken at Healesville Sanctuary during the holidays. Images will be displayed on a family photo e-board on the Sanctuary’s website. Families participating will be in the draw to win a fantastic Cadbury Family Chocolate Hamper. Entries close 23 April 2009.
