Single Parent Travel Club (UK)
Started in 1991, this is a self-help group for single family parents that aims to link them together for holidays and day excursions. It’s funded by an annual membership fee of just £7.50 and could prove an invaluable resource for anyone heading to the UK or even elsewhere. Members organise youth hostel and camping holidays around the UK and also overseas to places such as Florida and the Mediterranean. You can communicate with other members by e-mail.
National Council of One Parent Families (UK)
This organisation produces a holiday booklet for single parent families which you can receive free by sending an SAE to N.C.O.P.F, 255 Kentish Town Road, London NW5 2LX, United Kingdom. (You can organise an international return postage coupon through any Australia Post branch.) It has details of tour companies that offer specialist deals to single parent families and covers a wide range of budgets, from resorts to caravans and campsites, both in the UK and overseas.
