Don't forget the kids! It's family fun day every day at Hotham this season!
There will be fun for every member of the family at Hotham in 2007 with a new range of family-friendly entertainment, activities and initiatives across the mountain.
Holidaying in the snow with kids will be easier than ever before! The highest resort in Victoria is introducing a mountain mascot entertainment program, kids snowmobiling, a comprehensive kid’s helmet initiative and a new ski/daycare package.
Harry, Hotham’s new snow dragon mascot can’t wait to perform twice weekly at the Big D, Hotham’s dedicated kids’ and beginners’ area. His free 30 minute shows feature a range of songs, dances, games (and glow sticks!), and take place at 5pm each Wednesday and Saturday in a specially constructed performance area next to the chairlift.
Kids’ snowmobiling is also available at Hotham for the first time this year. A great way to break up a child’s day on the slopes, these fun skidoos will operate at the top of the Big D. Children can experience the thrill of riding on a skidoo in a safe and secure environment for just $15 for 15 minutes.
Snow safety is Hotham’s number one concern. The goal of the resort is to get as many children as possible in a helmet when on the slopes, thereby giving the entire family a worry-free ski experience. In 2007, every child who either rents equipment from Hotham Equipe or is enrolled in a Hotham Snowzone program will get FREE use of a certified snowsports helmet.
Located in the newly refurbished Big D, Hotham Daycare has a specially harnessed Ski-Daycare package. The program is just $159 and includes a full day of childcare for children as young as two PLUS a one hour introductory lesson in the snow.
“In 2006 we invested a large amount of resources and capital on relocating Kids Daycare to the Big D, thereby creating a purpose built, family-friendly centre,” explains Belinda Trembath, General Manager of Mount Hotham Skiing Company. “In 2007 we have further expanded on this work with additional entertainment and activities, ensuring the Big D is a snow holiday centrepiece for kids and parents alike.”
