A visit to Canberra wouldn't be complete without a visit to the tourism award-winning Australian War Memorial. Bet you didn't know it offers something for the kids! The ever-popular Discovery Room allows kids to gain a hands-on experience of Australians at war. They can dress up as a soldier or a nurse and explore replicas of a Gallipoli trench, the bridge of a corvette, a Vietnam tent and a 1940s Australian kitchen. The Discovery Room is one of only a few museum galleries specifically designed for children.
To get the most out of the Memorial's twenty galleries and constantly changing special exhibitions, be sure to set aside enough time to experience all that the Memorial has on offer. What's On
The Memorial has undergone a multi-million dollar face-lift in recent years, culminating with the opening of ANZAC Hall. In 2000, 2001 & 2003, the Memorial was named the ACT's and Australia's Best Major Tourist Attraction. It's a "must-see" during a visit to Canberra.
Admission is Free, however, visitor donations are appreciated.
