Waratah Park Earth Sanctuary, Sydney’s best kept natural secret is now open from 10:00am ‘til late daily. The world famous bushland sanctuary, once home to Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, has been transformed into a 21st century nature lovers' paradise where visitors can walk among free ranging Australian native wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, bettongs and potoroos. Some of these animals are rare and endangered and not seen anywhere else in the wild in Australia.
Only 30 minutes from the heart of Sydney, the sanctuary now offers the ‘Naturally Wild Australia’ bushland and native animal experience tours. This is a unique opportunity to experience close up the spectacular Sydney Sandstone basin bush and its wildlife, as it was before European settlement. On the daytime bush walk tour, the expert Waratah Park Earth Sanctuary ranger guide gives an informative understanding of the unique Australian bush. You’ll learn about traditional Aboriginal medicine, food and legends.
Each morning at 10:00am you can meet the Waratah Park Koala family and Euchie the purebred dingo that now live at Waratah Park (Euchie has his own area to roam around!). You can also enjoy a traditional Aussie morning tea of Billy Tea and Damper while you take in the magic of the natural Australian bush. It’s hard to believe you are only 30 minutes from the Sydney CBD!
From sunset each evening, the guided wildlife tour by spotlight is available. Before the tour, you can enjoy a traditional Aussie BBQ watching the sunset over magnificent Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
Bookings are essential for all tours, Billy Tea and Damper morning tea and evening BBQ.
