Australia Zoo Australia Zoo, located in Beerwah on the Glasshouse Mountains Tourist Route, is world-famous as the home of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, his wife Terri and several monster saltwater crocodiles. As well as watching the hair-raising crocodile demonstrations, you can cuddle a cute koala, stroke a python and wander through the native Wetlands exhibit.
Big Pineapple The Big Pineapple Plantation on the Old Bruce Highway, Woombye, is the only pineapple farm open to the public and its 16-metre-high fibreglass pineapple is one of the most recognisable roadside attractions in the country. Families can tour the grounds on the Plantation Train, chugging through tropical fruit orchards and pineapple fields. You’ll stop off at Avocado Grove to see an entertaining and informative Tropical Fruit Show before heading to Koala Station, where native wildlife can be spotted amidst tropical rainforest and bamboo stands. There’s also a tour of the macadamia orchards, boat ride and animal nursery.
Eumundi Markets The Eumundi Markets are held on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in Eumundi’s main street, and at the old Butter Factory on Sundays. There are over 250 stalls offering handicrafts, local produce and many other delights.
Glasshouse Mountains National Park The Glass House Mountains National Park protects seven of thirteen distinctive volcanic peaks that rise abruptly from the low plains just south of Caloundra.
UnderWater World UnderWater World is undoubtedly one of the Sunshine Coast's top family attractions. There’s the 80-metre walkway, moving through a glass tunnel where Grey Nurse Sharks, giant groupers and massive bull rays swim through a 2.5 million litre marine aquarium. Then it’s on to the seal show where these graceful mammals play, jump and speed through the water and even pose for photos with the guests. UnderWater World hosts an impressive collection of viewing aquariums and educational exhibits, plus visitors have the chance to swim with the seals and the sharks (bookings in advance required).
