Monarto Zoological Park, the gateway to the Murraylands region, is located 60kms east of Adelaide near Murray Bridge. Take the Monarto exit from the South-Eastern Freeway and follow the brown tourist signs. Monarto is a new concept combining an open-range zoo with a natural wilderness sanctuary in one centre for the conservation of wildlife and nature.
The safari tours of the 1,000 hectare park depart regularly, driving through habitat areas to view giraffe (Australia’s largest herd), zebras, antelope, cheetah, ostrich, bison, African painted dogs, the rare white rhinoceros and lions. An interesting and educational commentary is provided on the tours by a dedicated team of volunteer guides. They provide information on the animals and wildlife that inhabit the Park, focusing on their conservation status.
The Park plays a vital role in the global rare and endangered species breeding and release programs and also supports the largest revegetation project of its kind in South Australia’s history.

The two methods of viewing the Park provide different but complementary experiences. One, where visitors can experience the thrill of a safari bus tour whilst being surrounded by African, Asian, and Australian wildlife.
Public tours depart between 10:30am and 3:30pm. Pre-booked inbound group tours are also welcome with discount rates available.
