Whiteman Park

Whiteman Park is a unique conservation and recreation reserve situated 25 minutes drive from the city of Perth. Covering over 4,300 hectares and boasting a fantastic array of attractions and facilities, it is a great destination for families and best of all park entry is free!

Open every day of the year, the picturesque grounds of the Village and Mussel Pool areas are perfect for picnics, with lush lawns and well-appointed amenities including playgrounds, ample BBQ facilities and shelters making it the ideal destination for an enjoyable and relaxing day. If picnicking isn’t your style, you can also grab a bite to eat from our family friendly Village Café, offering a range of affordable take away or eat in meals, open from 10.00am – 4.00pm.

For families who enjoy a game of volleyball, basketball, tennis or cricket, Whiteman Park offers a complimentary sports hire equipment loan. With two-multi sport courts, a cricket oval and pitch, it’s a great way to fill in the day and make the most of being outdoors. In the warmer months, our water playground is also open, offering a 30cm deep wading pool with a water cascade and spouts for the children to cool down in.

Also within Whiteman Park itself is Caversham Wildlife Park, Perth’s premier native animal park. Here, both children and adults have the opportunity to get up close to Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats, Tasmania Devils and many other unique Australian animals. Additionally, the park includes farmyard animals and camel rides. Caversham Wildlife Park is open daily from 8.30am – 5.30pm. Charges apply.

A special feature of Whiteman Park is the Children’s Forest. Designed especially for children, the area is a unique destination to explore, complete with  quirky, contemporary art works hidden amongst the forest. And while you’re out and about discovering the park, why not jump aboard one of our lovingly restored vintage trams or trains that operate at varying times. For a minimal fee the trams and trains offer a delightful and value for money way for all the family to see different parts of the park; with the train winding its way through 6km of picturesque bushland and the tram rattling along through remnant farmland.

On weekends, public holidays and school holidays even more attractions come to life! For a small fee children can jump around on bouncy castles, ride a junior carousel, or drive a mini electric ‘ozzi bug’.
If you are lucky enough to visit us during the Western Australian school holidays make sure you also enquire about our special school holiday programs that makes Whiteman Park even more enjoyable for the whole family.
