This winter season get yourself and the kids out to the Parkes Region and be amazed by all things space and science as Parkes and the rest of the world celebrate the 50th anniversary of man landing on the Moon.
In July 1969, the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope played an important role in history when it received and broadcast the first Moon landing, carried out by Apollo 11, to 600 million people, one fifth of humanity at the time.
The Dish is still a world leader in radio astronomy and welcomes visitors to the Discovery Centre year-round.
In celebration of this significant anniversary, CSIRO will be hosting an exclusive open weekend where visitors can sneak a rare look inside The Dish on 20-21 July 2019.
Subscribers can obtain exclusive offers to explore more of the region over winter and enjoy the many events, attractions and experiences that this exciting destination has to offer.
